Fatma Hassan Alremaihi

As head of the nonprofit launched in 2010 to support the film community in Arab nations, and its homebase of Qatar in particular, Alremaihi’s primary vehicle is the Ajyal Film Festival, which held its 10th edition in early October. But that’s far from her only responsibility. Earlier in the year, she screened projects made with assistance from the Doha’s grant program — which provides creative and financial assistance for shorts, features and series helmed by people from countries throughout the Middle East and North Africa — at prestigious film festivals around the world, including Cannes, Toronto and Venice. In September, she forged a partnership between DFI and Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art to support a short story competition for teens between 13 and 17.
